Option 1 uses:
IV fluids are sterile solutions designed to be directly introduced into the bloodstream. Common types include:
- 0.9% Saline Solution: Sodium chloride dissolved in water, used to correct imbalances due to diarrhea, persistent vomiting, or bleeding.
- 5% Glucose Solution: Used to treat severe hypoglycemia and diabetic coma, and to manage low blood sugar in diabetic patients.
- Ringer’s Lactate: Contains balanced electrolytes like sodium, potassium, and calcium, used to address dehydration from excessive sweating or kidney disorders.
Option 2 uses:
- Draining urine during childbirth, especially if the woman has received an epidural.
